Dream Songs: “The Instrument You Are”
With my ‘feet in the sand, head in the clouds’ I would sit on the wild and beautiful Sonoma Coast beaches every weekend, by myself, for years. Hundreds of times I felt my body was a hollow tube, like a flute, ‘for the sea breeze to blow through’ and clear my mind and heal my heart. The song is called “The Instrument You Are.”
Dream Songs: “Casting”
I played this melody over and over, hundreds of times…I was entranced by it! I would play it again and wonder: Where did this come from? Is there a story in this melody? What is it about? Each night before sleep I would ask for the lyrics to come to me in my dreams. And sure enough, one night I had this dream…
Video: Fireflies
One of our favorite past times was to wait for the fireflies to come out. We'd see one or two, then slowly more and more of the tiny little sparks of starlight would begin to gently glow, on and off, on and off, under the pine trees of the hot and humid August night.
Song: I Think You Do
I wrote this song many years ago for a wedding. We recorded it several years later at Jamie Bridge’s studio (Room With a View) with just me on guitar and tons of harmony vocals. The song sat on the shelf again for several years, unforgotten, until I re-discovered it. Stuart Epps has re-produced the song, and decided to add it to the new album, “Soul to Soul” which will release in early-2024.
And A Good Time Was Had By All
Had a blast performing at the diRosa Center for Contemporary Art in Napa, CA on Sept. 17…thanks so much to everyone who showed up!
Review – Twist Run Road
You know, this is one of the most charming, heartwarming, unique, timeless, soothing but uplifting albums I ever remember hearing. It is instantly accessible and evocative of American folk from the 60s but with a slight Bossa Nova bent…a little Nellie McKay, a little Jobim, a little Judy Collins, and 100% Elaine Lucia. Get this album!
