A Mother’s Anthem – Radio Single (MP3)

Ann Ulibarri wrote this song in solidarity with those who have lost loved ones—particularly their children—to gun violence. This song is dedicated to the memory of Chad Norris, an innocent bystander who tragically lost his life at just 20 years old, killed by by two perpetrators with semi-automatic handguns in a parking lot as he returned a video. He is forever loved and missed by his family, friends and community. I originally recorded and performed it at the Million Mom March on Mother’s Day in 2000; unfortunately the song remains heartbreakingly relevant 25 years later. I asked Ann for permission to re-release the recording, prompted by the devastating realization that gun violence has not diminished; it has become the leading cause of death among children in the United States (since 2020). This tragic reality demands our attention, prayers, and healing—not only for the victims and their families but also for the perpetrators, who are likely in desperate need of love and understanding.
